Patek Philippe
Ellipse 4226
Introduced in 1968, the Patek Philippe Ellipse broke away from the round and rectangular cases that had defined dress watches until then, building its entire design around the golden ratio. Together with the Calatrava, it remains one of the Maison’s most identifiable references.
This example, reference 4226, known among collectors as the ‘Mini-Ellipse’, was introduced in the early 1970s and went on to become one of the line’s most popular models throughout the following decade. The case is in 18k yellow gold, and the dial is one of the most desirable variations available on this reference: a blue Sigma dial, sunburst-finished, with flat and pointed gold hands and matching applied baton indices. It is signed with the two ‘σ’ symbols flanking ‘Swiss’ below 6 o’clock, confirming that the hands and applied indices are executed in solid gold.
Overall condition is very good, with normal, honest signs of use to the case, while the dial remains in excellent condition. It is currently fitted with its original strap, paired with its original Patek Philippe buckle.
The watch is presented with its original Patek Philippe box.
