Submariner 14060M

No date, no cyclops, just the essential proportions that had defined the line since the 1950s. This example carries a P-series serial, placing it right at the transition between the 14060 and the 14060M, the moment Rolex introduced the calibre 3130 movement alongside the last of the outgoing 3000-equipped pieces, making early transitional examples like this one a particularly interesting footnote in the reference’s history.

The dial is a black 2-liner, the earlier of the two dial configurations used on the 14060M, predating the introduction of the four-line COSC text and the engraved rehaut that would follow later in the reference’s production.

The case remains in good general condition, still full and well-preserved, retaining its original proportions without any softening of the lines. The bezel insert shows some signs of wear consistent with age. It is fitted with its bracelet, 12 links, the clasp showing a later production code than the case while still retaining excellent tension on the wrist.

The watch is accompanied by its original Japanese warranty, and benefits from a Rolex service completed in 2023, giving it a clear and reassuring paper trail for a piece intended to be worn.

A genuinely interesting transitional 14060M, its P-series serial placing it at a precise turning point in the model’s history, a compelling proposition for collectors who appreciate that kind of detail.
